Our Horses: Chaparral

Chaparral is one of the newer additions to the Windhorse Herd.  In 2007, Mary Lee happened to find herself in St. George, Utah at a Sulphur Herd BLM adoption with an empty horse trailer.  She was actually supposed to fill the trailer with jumps needing to be transported from Kayenta Korrals to our northern facility Brighton Meadows. However, after she saw Chaparral, (age 3) and her colt, Pinon,Sequoia and her filly, Juniper, she decided the jumps could wait.

Chaparral is a beautiful Dun skin with black stockings, buckskin dappling, and a dorsal stripe. After a year and a half with the Windhorse Herd, one of our instructors decided she wanted her for her own.  Krista Farnsworth adopted her.  Although she is now only 5, she has an intelligence and self-carriage of a much older mare.  She is growing up into a beautiful horse with a bright and love-filled future ahead.
