At the 2008 Extreme Mustang Makeover in Fort Worth, Texas, the yearlings in the 007 mission competition, were adopted in a silent auction. If the yearling wasn't adopted, it would be returned to the Palomino Valley Facility. This was devastating to the young handlers and their families to think their yearling wouldn't be adopted and would have to go back to the facility. The Mustang Heritage Foundation staff were working tirelessly and even paying some of the costs to encourage adoptions.
Mary Lee had decided to buy her competition mustang, Wild Sweet William (Willy), and was keeping an eye out for a small mustang yearling that could become a childrens' hunter pony prospect. A loving mother-daughter team from Missouri were leading "Daisy" around the stallling area in search of a last minute chance for a home. Boom! Mary Lee and Daisy crossed paths.
She took 3rd in the yearling obstacle course, but that is not what caught Mary Lee's eye. She was interested in people, could handle pressure, and was just plain darling. We decided to adopt her and bring her into the Windhorse Herd.
She is from the Antelope Herd near Wendover, Utah, like Pearl, Jade and Beryl.
Daisy is now 2 and has a new best friend, Gracie. Gracie is a warm blood being boarded at Brighton Meadows by one of Mary Lee's former students. Gracie needed a run mate and Daisy volunteered. They look and act like mother and filly, (or as we like to call them, Gracie and Mini-Me).
Daisy is learning how to go over jumps and how to thwart off unwanted advances from annoying geldings.
