Our Horses: Juniper

Juniper is Sequoia's filly, born in 2006.  It was her beautiful eyes that convinced Mary Lee that it was better to fill the horse trailer with horses from the Sulphur Herd adoption rather than move jumps to Salt Lake City.  She is growing into a stunning mare. She has matriarchal tendencies and "gives the ears" to her little brother, Aspen, and his best friend, Pinon. They find her controlling behavior a little annoying at times.  She has a lot of intelligence, confidence and determination.

During her first year with us, she cut her knee on a fence she was pushed into.  It was touch-and-go for awhile, but the incredible healing ability of mustangs proved itself again.  She runs and plays now and doesn't give her knee a second thought. She is an amazing mare.

We have begun some groundwork with her and she learns very quickly.  When she is worked with Pinon and Aspen she moves quickly to the middle with the person, as if she is the one who should be holding the flag!

2010 Update:

Juniper has now fully recovered from her injuries and has fallen in love with her body!  It is so fun to watch her run, buck and kick when she is turned out with her friends. She is still a beauty!

She loves participating in the M.E.E.T The Mustangs Programs and is always ready to meet the participants and she loves having a neck massage from anyone who is willing!  She still finds her little brother, Aspen, as annoying as ever, but siblings are like that.
