Pinon is a Smoky Grullo from the Sulphur herd, and is Chaparral's son. He was a foal when adoped with his mother in 2007. Pinon loves playing bachelor boy games with Aspen and anyone else who wants to join in a little nip-knees or nip-face. He is well known as Aspen's mud wrestling partner.
The older horses are teaching him boundaries and respect, and he gets along amazingly well with them. He has a very low-key demeanor and they don't mind him eating with them, or standing by them. He is very aware of when he gets "the ears", and social cues don't have to go much farther.
He loves babies and was very gentle and nurturing to Aspen as a foal. A baby bull was born at Kayenta Korrels to our pet cow Moki, since the arrival of Magic, Pinon watches his every move and touches noses with him or gently strokes him through the fence.
All of the girls in the advanced riding class want to be the one to work with him on the ground and to be the first to ride him. He already has quite a following!
2010 Update:
Pinon is still growing and is becoming even more stunning! He is going to be one of our tallest mustangs. He loves playing nip-face with Beryl, but finds that his speed running away from him is his best ability! He always comes back for more play. He and Aspen still play daily and are still best friends and find Juniper a little too prim for their activities.
