Our Horses: Raven

Just when you think you have enough mustangs, along comes Raven!

In 2009, Mary Lee, on her way from Salt Lake to Kayenta, decided to stop at the Delta Holding Facility because she heard they had rounded up 200 mustangs from the Sulphur Herd, her favorite.  She decided to stop and check them out.  Thinking she was safe from further adoptions, (she was driving her Subaru, not a truck with trailer) she walked around the huge pen.

You guessed it!  A little black filly (2 years old) zeroed in on her.  No matter where she went, Raven followed.  It was truly an example of a horse choosing to be with her. We have decided to make her training and story the thread that ties our film production together.

Raven continually surprises us with her curiousity, fearlessness, and self-carriage.  She loves being a horse, but likes to hang out with people because we are interesting and useful. She finds us especially appealing when we scratch where she or her friends can't reach.

Recently she found that carrots have potential and that maybe the others aren't so silly after all, when they clamber for them. Her friendliness towards people is remarkable for one so recently off the range.

Raven has a lot of new friends.  Her special friend is Wild Sweet William, the six year old gelding Mary Lee took to the 2008 Extreme Mustang Makeover and adopted back.  They walk around the paddock like they are velcroed and Willy is very  protective of her.

She finds Aspen amusing. She thinks Juniper is bossy and Pinion, a little gawky, but cute.

She apparently is into older men.
