Tiger Eye is definitely a "gem" in a brilliant dappled buckskin coat and blocky, buff body. She came form Jake's Wash in Nevada and makes a distinctive impression of beauty, strength and confidence. Tiger has a mind of her own and is a real skeptic where the human is concerned.
"Trust must be earned" is Tiger's motto. She is no push over and demands a willing partnership. Inside this tough nut lives a kind and loyal friend but good technique is required.
Tiger has been ridden but needs more gentling time and human appreciation classes to make it. Her potential as a great partner is apparent as a Pony Hunter, schooling horse, pleasure horse, or in the Para-Olympics. She is capable of it all.
Nancy Gnaba, an occupational therapist, has participated in many Windhorse workshops and is a member of the "Wave Riders", an on-going group that works weekly with the horses. Marcia Thayne leads this group of women. Nancy has partnered with Tiger Eye and fabulous outcomes have occurred. Nancy works with autistic children and she has discovered many parallel experiences.
Currently, Nancy is seeking funds for a Mustang camp this summer for high functioning autistic children. She feels that as the children learn the Mustang language and create a willing relationship with horses similar to Tiger Eye they will be able to bridge the gap in connecting with humans.
2009 Update:
Tiger Eye has really turned a corner. She is hanging out with friends who have more resilience than her other old buddies. She wants to be haltered and learn new things. She tries very hard to overcome her fears and chooses to work through them rather than fleeing. Rather than tolerating new things, she engages with the human and seems to enjoy her relationship with the human.
We are thrilled with her progress and new awakening! She is a stunning mare and has a lot of potential.
2010 Update:
Tiger Eye really rose to the occasion in our program with the Erin Kimball Foundation. She so connected with her partner that she was able to totally let down with him and develop a Windhorse Relationship!
